I think i met the driver who dropped the truck off.... He was big, fat, his pants kept falling off. He didnt shower for a about a month. Told me he sold the tires, trashed the interior. He dropped the truck off in Indiana, then went to work for Swift. He also told me that he ran into a brick wall, a dumpster and also found the local bumper remover. What a guy... :biggrin_25522: :biggrin_25522:

    Update 3:
I took the truck to Wingfoot Goodyear in Indy (after picking up my phone charger I left at the LTL co on Friday). They were instructed to make it legal and send me to Vandalia. It was pronounced legal, so I hit the road for 120 mi to the terminal.
I have to admit, despite being embarrassed about the truck condition, I like the way it drove and the features.

The truck goes into the shop tonight at 6:30pm EST for a new hood, bumper, tires and the punch-list of smaller issues I want fixed. I continued to clean/Armor-All the dash, floor and interior surfaces, so the truck is growing on me. I bought an aerosol spray called "Citra" at the Loves on I-70, I highly recommend it for blasting away the smoke smell, works way better than Fabreeze. It wasn't cheap at $8, but well worth it.

I like the APU, inverter, sleeper windows, controls on the steering wheel and the auto.

I'm being paid for the miles I rode the bus from Van Buren to Indy, breakdown pay for the weekend, so all isn't bad. I'm glad I insisted on a tire check as I made it through the scale on the Ohio border on the I-70.

I cant believe i am reading this. Those tires aren't even to the wear indicators yet. The bumper, may be a violation, the rest of it isn't cool, but its not a big way. Way to impress your new company.

I seriously cant believe the whining I am hearing over the cigarette smoke. If I owned that trucking company the OP steering wheel holder would be looking for a new job yesterday. You wont even be given this truck when its all fixed lol. OMG OMG OMG a full ashtray LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Welcome to the world of trucking, fat assed sweatpants are the rule of thumb, my my you have a lot to learn.

Take some pride in what ever truck you are issued, get it fixed best of your ability, and spend the rest of your free time cleaning it.

    Really, keeping this truck?

I guess that goes double for you too huh snipe snipe? Oh, and don't flatter yourself. I don't need you to give me a job, save those offer for the DOT cops you [edit edit, so I dont get banned] lol

    Did you miss this part?

    or this

Apparently they see the tires as a non issue. Anybody can see that coin is not to the bottom of the tread, but rather sitting on top of the wear markers. At $400 per drive tire a guy would be a fool to replace those tires (at this time) on the word of a new hire. The older tires are closed tread highway tires, those would look #### near bald brand new next to the open shoulder traction tires behind them. Of course it looks screwed up to a newby!
If this guy was hired OTR do you really think they are going to keep this truck just for him while it gets a new hood (how many spare hoods do you keep on hand?) Or, will they get him in a new truck so he can go make the company and himself some money? Do you think he's going to want to sit for a month while they get a new hood put on?

When the OP reads this he may not like what he see's, sometimes the truth sucks, and all the dreaming about trucking you do in truck school about shiny new trucks doesn't really match what happens back in the real world. Hopefully, what I have typed might just sink in, and the guy will stop the fussing about getting a shiny new truck, keep his mouth shut and keep his job.

No, I wouldn't drive that truck on a bet, but I am also an O/O and I keep my own truck in pretty good shape. The OP is more or less a newby he doesn't get that luxury just yet, and its time somebody tell him whoaa before he crosses the line, stops playing chicken little and gets a deaf ear from his FM when he really does have a problem.
