You seem like an intelligent guy who can get to where he needs to be on time; you should have no trouble out of SC making that in a week. Skateboarding has extra pay that a lot of other driving jobs don't.

    ken worth,
Thanks I figured as much but I wanted to make sure that I was making right decision for my family. The money isn't the main reason I really want to drive a truck but the money is a lot nicer than what I make now!!

Good luck to you, I have a brother that drove flatbeds, He didn't like handling tarps, though he's not the hard labor type of person. I'll be starting Driving school soon, and i also am looking at pulling a flatbed, ...

PS I worked for the city of Rock Hill, Electric Utility Contract with Pike electric, maybe we crossed paths...

I've been hauling alot of flat sheets of metal, you have to use chains and then tarp it. Having a hard time making the tarp stay over the metal, and from blowing all over the place, is there a certain technique on how to put tarp on

Fold the front under the load as close to the deck as you can make sure theres no pockets air can get into and pull the tarp tight. honestly though you should have no trouble with sheet steel its the easiest thing to tarp

IMHO, a new driver starting out should expect approximately $700 - $800 per week gross and $525 - $600 net. In many cases regional could be less.

Trying to make the net versus gross thing clear. Too many quote one or the other without reading what the OP asked.

Don't forget if you spend $100 a week on the road for living expenses, take home becomes $425 - $500 per week.

    Company : TMC
    Home every weekend.
Pay : take home of 600 to 700 from the get - go.
This weeks check : 1150 take home.

That said, I have had 2 memorably bad weeks. One was the week after memorial day (4 day week), I brought home 400$. And another short week where I brought home a mere 250$. However, if I had decided to not take the holidays off, I obviously wouldn't have had these bad weeks lol.

Thanks Thats about what I figured to be making! In CDL school now going to Boyd Brothers! Thanks for all the info! Did get a pre hire from TMC just think Boyd is a better match for me! Also just so happens I met a trainer for them that lives in myu home town and he has already set it up to be my trainer. Cool thing is I get to come home every weekend even during training!!
