Pay will depend on what part of the country you live in, and how often you go home. If you live in an area that doesn't pay high rates, you will either find yourself out for long periods of time, lower pay or both. If you live in a high production lane, you could be easily home weekly with a fist full of dollars. As for the physically challenging part, you still spend most of your time sitting. Once you have tarping down youur exercise should not exceed 30 minutes maximum.

Someone else asked about tarping flat steel. If you need 2 tarps to cover, place your back tarp first and lap the frost tarp over it to keep the wind out. Don't be stingy with the bungies and don't be lazy about pulling them tight. Even though it is chained and bungied, trow a strap over the tarp at the front, back and the lap. You will ruin a good tarp fast if you let get lazy.

I find leaving the back open just a bit helps let it breath, so it wont balloon out on you so much. back tarp first fold or roll the door up then pull it around the sides and secure . then front tarp bungie the sides about every 8 feet on one side then do all of the other then go back and finish the first side. pull down hard on the front and wrap it around the sides . i like to roll the front up and pull a 2" strap thru the middle of the roll to help hold it down. i have a short 2" er just for that. and i use a 4" wench . but thats on taller loads.
on small height loads like flat steel
i use 26 ft steel tarps and tuck the front under and use bungies to pull it backwards and keep it tight
then fold up the sides and lightly bungie it
pulling the back of the tarp to the rear so rain cant get in ill just bungie it backwards so to let it breath.
    just my 2cents worth
