But see here's the kicker, my family lives in IL right now. I'd like to get on with a company that has the prospect of transferring down to TX once I can establish myself. I'm afraid if I work out of one of the terminals in TX right of the bat that I won't get any home time with the family while they're in IL. You get what I'm saying lol?
Should I try to get on with a terminal in TX first? I don't plan on staying in IL long after I get hired. Just long enough to get stuff lined up to move the family.
Need advice from some vet drivers! Help!

The only way to do it in my opinion is first find the company you like and then weigh all your options. If you find a company that is no good for you what good would that do if you hated it? Make your list of wants and goals then start looking. If all you're worried about is getting home then go with the mega carriers and get home when you can just remember you're going to be with the new drivers again and starting all over. Use your experience for your advantage. Decide what kind of tanker you want then contact them.

Alright. So I spoke with 2 of the 4 I'm considering. The conclusion is to apply for the terminal in Texas. I'd have to live out of my truck but that was expected anyway. The lady at Superior said I have two options, Houston or Dallas. Which of the two cities would you guys recommend? Which would be better to raise my kids? I certainly dont plan on living in the city. I'm not saying I'm going with Superior but just want everyones opinion. I've been to Dallas once on a load so I didn't get to see much. Decisions, decisions...

I can't stress the importance of having hazmat if you want to pull chemical bulk. Twic and passport can wait but you really need that x on your license.

Kane Transport, Tanker Yanker... you live in Illinois, you can haul Bio Diesel with my company, no hazmat required for that product. We have a few drivers based out of the IL. area, and I sometimes haul there, Wis. and Iowa.. decent company to start your tanker career!

Can you PM me and tell me what you have to offer? -
I have been driving for Kane out of the Inver Grove Heights Minnesota terminal for 10 months now, they will keep you busy in the midwest region! Just google Kane Transport, you should make about $60,000 yearly with them.
