I just want to be a trucker and finally have a real career, but surviving on the streets so far ain't been smooth sailing and I just landed on 2yrs probation for a state jail felony. Please, is there any company that will get me in a truck to earn a steady paycheck? Being behind the wheel and on a road is one of my biggest passions in life, and I'm so tired of these dead end part time jobs that I can't even support myself on.

    Concorde Thanks this.

I could be wrong, but I don't think certain felonies are as much of a bar to employment as they used to be... one guy in my trucking school (U.S.T.D.S.) in early '96 had a felony, but IIRC, it was for forgery. I think he eventually found a job, it just took him a little longer with that millstone around his neck. Meh, better to have a felony for forgery than for murder, I reckon... might be tougher to find a job with the murder rap, since the companies would already know that you'd gladly kill your dispatcher, lol.

Two of my trainers had served prison time. I don’t think it’s a big deal with many outfits. Will your probation allow that kind of travel?

Certain things such as drug offenses or DUI will definitely disqualify you. Most others are probably a case by case basis.
Have you looked at dockwork positions with LTL carriers? Several will send the dockworkers to CDL school after a certain period.

Hell, I'm still waiting to be assigned a probation officer, I'm not sure what I'm gonna be told.

You can apply for free cdl school through the state.
Texas WIOA Program will pay for it. Sometimes they also help with expenses such as transportation costs and some other stuff.
I'll keep looking for something. Dallas is a big area, so something should show. Millis might still contact you though.
