Hi Hc, don't forget, some shippers don't think pallets weigh anything either!:biggrin_25513:

i drive around the country weighing 12.5 on the steers with full tanks. no one even bothers me.

the truck i'm in now. was either speced wrong or manufactured wrong. the 5th wheel is all the back. nothing more to use. steers weight 12.5 regardless of loaded or bobtail.

for all of you making a big deal over 12.1. your making a big deal over nothing.

Same here, I typically weigh 12,300 - 12,500; poorly spec'd truck: T800, moose bumper, pass side fuel tank forward. I go across a LOT of scales as I haul O/S almost exclusively.

Sorry guys, my Prostar drives like a plow horse with the Steers over 12,300-12,500. After a long hard day in the Mountains with Steers that heavy I feel like someone took a baseball bat to me. I keep my steers at or under 12,000. She drives just fine. And its odd but moving my Fifth Wheel is only 75-100lb adjustments. I have to get into some very TIGHT areas requiring me to turn extremely sharp. Got it back far enough to keep the Side Fairings safe.

I just saw somewhere that the actual steer weight generally regarded as legal is 12, 450.

I remember the first time I ran a truck with more than 12000 it was a straght hazmat boiler truck full of propane never even thought of weighing it since everything was permanent seen 13500 at a scale house and went oh #### dot is going to pull me in and have my ### but they did not.

Just came back across this post--and I have to say--what BOTHERS me as always with these things--and what i tried to correct earlier--is all the Posters with the ALWAYS ALWAYS NEVER...mentality--that offer no constructive advice..I mentioned the tandem weights and raod atlas for example because--NOT all states are 34.34--Fl and colorado come to mind first--
then there is the whole where to place tandems and or 5th wheel--with references to the equipment they are familiar with--which in NO way transfers to the OPs questions--especially since in this case she hasn't stated what type of truck trailer etc...but folks jump in and state which HOLE to be in--or how much weight transfers when you slide your fifth wheel--sorry if I come across cranky--but NONE of these answers are helpful at all..especially to someone new asking for help and advice and why this poster or any may or may not be confused or concerned is also--IMHO--not relevant--what is relevant is they are ASKING for help..
and as for over on steers--it took 4-5 pages(didnt go back to check)for someone to even mention the real answer--that 100lbs is GOING to be a non issue before you get to any scale..because in reality at approx 7.6 lbs a gallon even w/a mega companies newer truck that gets 7mpg your still looking at burning that 100 lbs off in less than 100 miles....
