Was the grant to you or the school. If the state gave you the money to give to the school that's one thing. But if they pay the school directly, they usually have something in there that says students that don't pass won't be paid for. Or they'll pay just a portion of the fee. Talk to the people who approved your grant and ask them what recourse you have if you don't feel you were trained properly. But my understanding is that you have to take all 3 parts of the test at the same time (someone correct me if I'm wrong). And if the school is the official testing site, as opposed to the DMV, failing you and then asking for more money is sketchy. You have time to work it out.

Not to be a jerk.. but, a maneuvers test followed by a driving test really shouldn't be a big deal if you're ready to be behind the wheel in a rig.

Wiggling around parking lots and backing into tight spaces, etc.. is always followed by entering the freeway in everyday trucking life.

If you can pass the maneuvers portion, the driving down the road should be a snap.

Get your head screwed on straight and figure out a way to take those 20 hours.
If it's $2,000.. it's not the end of the world since the rest was on a Grant.

Go to a lender in town and take out the loan. Over 2 years the payment will be abput $100/mo.

If you're nervous behind the wheel.. the 20hrs of wheel time may be just what you need.

The grant was paid directly to the school. It's already been paid. Now that I'm needing another 20 hours, they're wanting paid for 2 weeks.

The school is not the official testing site. Just down the highway is the Missouri Highway Patrol place where they administer the test. You have to pass there to get your license.

And yes, I understand it's standard to do all 3 parts of the test the same day. I just wish that wasn't the case. I had spent the previous few days working on my maneuvers in the training yard, so it'd been nearly a week since I had last driven around town with an instructor. So I was a little rusty. I felt like asking the DMV test guy "Hey, I just passed the maneuvers, can I just go work on my driving and get back to you?"

To be honest, I'm more upset with the state regulation insisting upon more training, BEFORE I am allowed to test again. I was so close, and now I'm losing ground waiting for a response from the state DMV in Jefferson City.
