Well, my latest update is I am buying gliders from fitz. I have 1 now and it has been a dream of a truck. Full warranty has been nice too. I saved over 40 k Vs a new truck and couldn't be happier. They are building 2 more fir me right now as a matter of fact. No complaints here. 7 mpg average too.

Couldn't find any KW gliders. Can someone point me in the right direction if they know where to find them?
Appreciate it ahead of time. -
Kenworth isn't building gliders at this time.Gasienica Thanks this.

good to hear from ya again, btw is that glider a coronado ? what engine?
-
They are all Coronados (that I am buying). They have the 12.7 DD @ 500hp with an Eaton 13. I have bought 2 midroofs for my stepdeck rigs and condos for my reefers. I have been waiting all summer for my first condo and it should be done in a few weeks. (Apparently Schnieder or some other large company ordered 5k gliders and all us little guys orders were pushed back)I will probably get out from behind my desk and put some rounds on it till I find another driver for my Blue Pete. Hopefully I will get the go ahead from Daimler this comeing year to replace my aging petes. When I get these 2 rigs on the road, that will have me at 6 trucks.
JackMac and The Challenger Thank this. -
Other than Calif are there any more states that you can't run with a glider?? What are the chances ALL states or more ststes will follow Califirnia and a glider will not be allowed?? What is the long term out look for gliders being able to run all states??
-
Just Kalifornia, it's anyone's guess but my opinion is that no other states will follow their lead, it's just absurd over there.
-
According to Fitzgeralds site, their gliders are legal in California as well.
-
You know why or when they plan to if they will?
Sorry for the thread hijacking just interested.
Thanks -
"Kenworth Corporation, what are you thinking? The glider kit business is bigger than it has ever been in the history of trucking in North America and you still refuse to build glider kits for us. Can't you see the problems with the new engines since 2003 with the EGR systems and the Diesel Particulate Filters? Many owner-operators would love to have a new KW with a 2002 or older engine, and YOU won't build them for us. Business is business, and I know you don't count a glider kit as a completed truck leaving your assembly line; however there is still profit in building a glider kit. Look what Peterbilt did, raise the price $8,000 on a glider kit as of January 2010 and we still continue to build them. Kenworth CEO's, please remove your blinders, think about your customers and listen to them. Reconsider the glider kit business. We don't want you to be a sign on the Cracker Barrel Restaurants walls and be out of business like so many other business have because you're not willing to make a change."
