90 hooks up with 94 at Billings. Don't see how that's gonna cut any distance or more importantly time off your route.

If you want a shortcut on your trip, take MT 212 from I-90 and catch back up with I-90 in SD. It'll take about 70 miles off your trip, be warned, there is construction and wildlife on this route, as well as a lovely scale in Broadus, MT, also a couple of small towns with VERY STRICT speedlimits.

agree this is the shortest way to go and not bad anytime of year...

as for 200 up across is actually longer and is very beautiful but just stay on 90... i have ran both sides of the 15 on 200 and it is beautiful but do it when you have the time to spare so you can enjoy and get paid for it like when hauling out of great falls

good luck but if you trying to make up time this isn't the route to go

If you like tomato soup, stop at the Crossroads truck stop in Missoula exit 96 off I-90. Best tomato soup I've ever had....with a grilled cheese sandwich, Cheddar on rye...yum...

But I concur with everyone here. 200 looks like it cuts miles, but it adds time...big time right about now. Going to Chicago, I would take the 212 cutoff into Spearfish and catch the 90 again. Weather won't be quite so extreme going that way vs. going across North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin this time of year.

    Have a safe trip!

I would take I-90 to US212 (at Crow Agency MT) to US85 (at Belle Fourche SD) to I-90 (at Spearfish SD) US212 is usually clear running except in the middle of a snow-storm. There is one scale just north of Crow Agency and another one in Broadus MT that is generally closed during evenings and you don't hit another one till you hit Rapid City SD.

Thanks alot boys & girls. I've never been on I-90(94) in those upper states(MT,SD,ND) so idk the best way. I use Microsoft Streets And Trips and it showed me to take uS200 cuz its 25 miles shorter but when i look at atlas it shows SOOO Muchhh towns and villages, it'd take forever. I-80 here<-----

I've gone both ways and 90/212/85/90 is the quickest way EXCEPT for today! 212 was quite an icy ride all the way across earlier this afternoon. Especially from Broadus to Crow Agency.

Chain laws were up over Ashland hill but nearly nobody actually chained. I saw 2 trucks not make it up and have to chain half way up the hill. That didn't look like fun.

Meanwhile 90 was just wet. The ~60 miles you save by taking the 212 wasn't worth it at all today.
