So I work a full time job during week as well as my friend we were thinking about trying to get into Friday-Saturday hot shot hauling we both have trucks and were thinking about buying a good used flatbed trailer. What are people’s thoughts? The truck wouldn’t stop unless mechanical issues.

Isn't most flatbed work Monday to Friday 8-5 kinda deal?

What customers do you think you might target who will need a weekend only guy? And how is that void currently being filled?

Sounds like a good way to lose at both hotshot as well as current job. Nevermind the fact going into business with a friend is an excellent way to ruin that friendship.

You do not go into business with friends or family. It ruins it in some way. Mark my words. And you would both be sorry.

Such a limited time frame for hotshot sounds like you two are playing at trucking. If you were dead serious about this industry you will be taking loads 24/7 365 all year. Your expenses never stop. Fuel, insurance, taxes, payroll (If any...) fixit bills etc. Get going yer late. lol.

10-4....so if a man was considering trying to be full-time how is the industry doing as far as hauling like I said I am just looking for options to work for myself instead of corporation?

Have a business plan drawn up yet? Even something scribbled out on scrap paper? Then on another paper how you will accomplish the needs of the business plan? Example who might your customers be.? Do all of this before you spend a dime or make any moves.
