Yes I know I'm sorry I know that sometimes I get too defensive. I was not implying that you thought that I was. I guess that being blonde. Female, and from WV has kind of hardened me to think that most are against me because of stereotypes. I am sorry. I know what you meant.

I had a good re-entry experience wiith Swift, out of Albuquerque terminal. It makes a difference where you are, and what the people you work with are. You can change terminals and DM's at any time. Swift doesn't pay a bunch to start, but they do pay as good as any of the mega's if you stick around. If you haven't been in this forum a lot, don't pay a whole lot of attention to negative comments. Look for facts, look for people who are involved with the things they're saying. "Just the facts, Ma'am."

I agree, no CRST. I'd also say no Celadon, Knight, or CR. I would definitely recommend Conway Truckload. You can call their recruiters (number is front page online) and tell them drivers say good things. I wanted to go with Conway a few years back, didn't pass their agility test, went to Swift for 13 months, got on with Conway 2 1/4 years ago, much, much better place to work. I own my truck now, get load selection and longer runs, average around 10,000 miles/month in 3 weeks runtime. If I wasn't so lazy I could make some nice dollars. :)

sadly as a young gal, married or not, you are gonna get crap. walk into a truck stop, with hubby by your side, and only from being a gal, you already know the stares you will get, from truckers, who never saw a gal in thier life, then start mumbling shyte talk on what they'd like to do "with something like that"

as a result, you will be even harder with an defensive attitude. it's sadly the way it is, as many guys still think they know where you actually belong in life.

if you were to "blow up and curse" at anyone, you'll get flack for it, this you know, from the know it all truckers that think they are God's gift to women.

well many years ago, when i ran a repair garage, i treated my female customers like females and respected them. other garages would say to them, "go get your man, i'll explain it to him, honey"......

you only have to prove to yourself you can do the job, no one else. if someone has a problem with you being a female, then that is "HIS PROBLEM", never yours.......remember that......!!!!!!!

If you are in school now, I would suggest finishing your school if you can, and let your husband get started driving for a company you intend to run team for. Later on when you would normally head out with a trainer you might just end up getting in a truck with your husband to finish your training!
Don't just look at "training companies", look at companies you want to work for! Even some small fleets are training n00bs these days!

That's something you'll work out with your trainer on a case by case basis. My trainer told me while I'm driving its my truck. If I want coffee or food or just a break to walk around I take it. Lately I've been working on shifting smooth enough and avoiding holes in truck stops that I don't even wake my trainer up. Kind of a courtesy thing, kind of a hilarious thing when he wakes up and we're parked at the final and asks what truck stop I'm at lol

I know two husband/wife teams in training. I do not like the school I am in--but they use several and you can PM me for the info. Once out of that school, I will be filling everyone in on the details. Other than that, everything with Conway has been up and up. The married couples seem very happy.

I've always been fond of the 'married couple driving a truck' idea. Under the right scenario I'd buy a super sleeper and hit the country with my spouse in style......

Never quite found one who enjoyed the novelty of the trucking lifestyle or enjoyed the little things about it that I do. Such as scale dodging or fixing the truck on the side of the road.... in the rain.... at 3am.

If I had a dollar for every time I've heard 'if you loved me as much as that stupid Peterbilt we wouldn't be having this fight'. Well I could probably afford to take the next few days off.

Anyway, that's my long-winded way of saying best of luck to the both of you and you found the right place to go for advice about all things trucking.... and some humor. Welcome.
