Thats the thing with the US, they have some of the lightest gross weights on 5 axles in the world. I think a 5 axle setup in Canada is good for about 87,000. Out in the prairies its flat and a 13L will handle that just fine. Then you get out into the mountains with a super b at around 140,000 you need that big bore engine to get around.

Thanks for the input, I didn’t know that the engine heat could affect the after treatment like that. Now one truck I’m considering has the 15 liter Cummings and the After treatment has been deleted would that be ok or just ignore it and look at the 12L and 13L?

I can't give much insight into the delete. Apparently it can be a nightmare to find somebody willing to work on a deleted truck, so that'd be a risk you'd need to weigh.

There are horror stories on TTR about badly deleted trucks.

Basically when the aftertreatment does a regen, its just heating the DPF up in order to catalyze the soot off. If the engine is working hard, its already making lots of heat.

To all the Drivers out there who took the time to give me advice, I would like to say thanks. I’ve decided to go with a Freightliner with the DD15 and a 13 Spd Trans. I got a lot of good advice from my local Freightliner dealer Service Tech’s and I’m now in the process of finding my next Truck. Thanks again.

At roughly 500k 2 injectors were operating below spec and truck was running funny , so I had them all changed out for new ones .
