Because he's tired of dropping at least a $1000 every couple of years. Just like my truck, we go through compressors every couple of years.

You’ll be dropping more $ replacing batteries constantly.

    Coolbreezin Thanks this.

You guys have something else going on, to go through compressors every 2yrs. The dryer and filter (if it has one) need to be replaced, with every compressor. There must be the proper amount of oil going into the system, with the refrigerant. I’m guessing, there’s blockage somewhere in both systems causing premature failure of successive compressors.

Not only that, but replace the WHOLE system, should be about 2500$ maybe less if you do it yourself, but i mean EVERYTHING. including hoses, ac controls etc, should last quite a whie barring a condensor coil breakage.

My ac system worked fine for my cab, but the sleeper was lacluster and required idling for ac on my 8/10hr, all new hoses cost me 1 k on their own ..

Coolbreezin, ducnut and Concorde Thank this.

    Good idea.

I suspect their condensers and dryers are plugged with compressor debris, since those two components are the first two things in line, after the compressor.

Yea if all you do is throw a compressor on it, and the system is contaminated, you're just going to fry your compressor over and over again. I had a Benz that had a compressor sieze up. Before it did, it threw tons of microscopic shards of metal into the cooling system. I was going to just put a compressor on it until a mechanic said you need to flush the entire system very well before replacing the compressor, otherwise you'll be putting compressors on it until you die.

    Concorde and ducnut Thank this.
