    2013 Cascadia DD15

Wabco - Meritor on Guard error
    Spn 86566 fmi 12 count 33

Also got a low oil pressure but checked oil and error went away,

I’m also concerned about this error
    System 017 SPN 000841 02

leading me to believe I might have a short in the harness since the low oil pressure went away, and I have to restart every time my onguard starts acting up.

Is the oil pressure gauge reading erratic? The oil pressure sensor is under the oil cooler module and will act up if there is oil leakage or spillage shorting the plug.

it does sometimes not all the time, but can’t say it’s erratic. Has small swings real small. 3 times now it gives me low oil pressure but I power cycle the engine and it goes back to normal.

I’m guessing I have a short because my onguard is acting up as well as a few other things.

Also looking to replace the oil pump or at least the orings on the tubes in the pan.

    any suggestions?

Here's a video on how to do o-rings and the suction manifold. My oil suction manifold actually had a triangular piece broken out and missing. Never did find the missing piece. Good thing I never let the oil level get low.

Oil pumps are about $450, or at least that's what they cost a couple of years ago. The first time I did o-rings I did replace the pump just for good measure. Second time I didn't replace it and haven't had any problems.

The first time I did it I had had the dealership do the work. They replaced the o-rings and the pump and set the jakes. Altogether it was about $1800, but that was six years ago. O-rings are not a big job. The biggest cost is the down time waiting for someone to get to it.

    One last question.

if it’s raining and your horn goes off often or your wipers don’t work correctly using the turn signal or it doesn’t respond to the speed selected, where would you look first ?

Check DDDL for codes and get the diagnostic procedures for the codes that look relevant to your problem.

First wild guess would be water intrusion in the samcab since you say it happens when it rains.. Could also be water leaking down the firewall under the hood. The drip guard on the firewall has a gasket that is single use so it may leak if it's ever been off.

The oil pressure sensor is on the engine wiring harness. The controls on the steering column are on the chassis harness. I agree both sets of problems seem on the surface like possible harness issues, but it's a bit of a coincidence that both harnesses would be bad at the same time.
