Hey Chinatown how do you know this? I looked into TWT and website said only hiring experienced drivers. Same for Melton. I do like TWT. I will check out System. I like Marten too, but same thing as TWT. Is it a waste of time to apply? Who else do you like that has APU's, quality equipment?
How do you driver for?
Thanks. G MAN
Need help in evaluating equipment out there!!

You can do without it, but it sure does make life easier when you DO need it! Seems a number of drivers nowadays think that, when dropping a trailer, you have to crank the thing up until it totally clears the fifth wheel!sdaniel Thanks this.

System Transport and TWT Refrigerated Services fall under the tran-system umbrella. Check trans-system website. Here is one of the schools System Transport recruits from : Drivers Training School
which is listed on their website. Terminals in Stockton and Bloomington. This is why I advocate, ignore "experience required" and apply anyway. Online applications are easy and the worst that can happen is for the application to be denied.
Someone on here said drivers run hard with Apergis Transportation, but other than that I know absolutely nothing about the company. -
Get a passport; some companies require it and some companies recommend for runs to or through Canada. Without a passport, you might miss a good run to Canada or Alaska.

Already have a current one. Who do you driver for? I did check out TWT, will add them to my list. Any others you suggest I look into, based on my criteria at the beginning of this thread? Thanks much!

You considering Sage in Kingman ? Excellent choice, one on one etc.

Yes, thank you. I am actually going there tomorrow to spend two days checking them out. Only one thing I dont like: Have to get an AZ permit, then CDL. Then must come back to CA and transfer it. It just adds a layer of hassle. But other than that, so far they are my number one choice!

Been one of my pet peeves ! Almost all of our trucks are setup the same. How come half the trailers I get to are 6 to 8 inches to high ? I can make ANY truck kneel . (Spring included) ! But I can not make one jump! Showed my trainee yesterday if only rolling landing gear down six inches from full up I could get under it. May take a few min but it can be done .48Packard Thanks this.

Running regional you should be taking most resets at the house although some carriers expect you to be out for 14 days I run regional dedicated have every weekend off and almost every trucking job I have had was that way .

I'd say check out their section under the Trucking Company DAC reports. I've been here 2 years and it tends to fluctuate. Sometimes I'm run so hard I barely have time to sleep. Legal 10 hour breaks I mean but once in awhile you kinda need a restart to do laundry and other things. Then there are weeks like the last two where its been slow. I've had a load every day of at least 300 mile length of haul, but I'm gonna end the week twice now with around 2000 miles. Not bad enough to starve but not impressing me either. Equipment here is decent to excellent. This was once an all automatic fleet but with the 2011 model year Freightliners and up, its going back to all manuals. Fleet is currently about 50/50 International Prostars and Freightliner Cascadias. The Internationals are the ones being phased out as they are all the older automatics. Fleet is 95% APU equipped. We still run on paper logs. We do hire students, trainees, rookies, whatever you'd like to call them and I believe you are still in our hiring area. We only run dry vans and intermodal. No flatbeds or reefers. We used to have a terminal in Phoenix but it closed. We still have storage yards in Fontana and Stockton where you could park on home time if you don't have a way to take the equipment home. Drivers are not on planned routes, we are only given pickup and delivery information along with paid miles for the trip and are expected to plan our own routes. We do run 48 states plus Canada. We also offer regional which you could ask for Southwest regional which is 500 miles from California and supposed to be home every weekend.
