You are not even done training and you have job offers? Trucking jobs are a dime a dozen. People quit everyday. It sounds like you want to jump from A to C without doing B. You never know if you want to change jobs again. You need that training certificate and pay that loan off. Then quit. One thing trucking will teach you is patience.

Trainees abandon bottom feeders all the time . "Decent companies " don't even check with Hire Right . The problem will be the inexperience . That will be the main obstacle because most starter companies do use Hire Right .

And here I come with the voice of experience in having left off trainer's trucks in the past. Try to follow along, all of you who are busy trying to scare the poor guy.
2003...student (hah!) driver for Swift after taking two years off for college drinking binge. Bailed off the trainer's truck two days from upgrade to dumb and dumber to join Werner. DAC report says "quit/terminated during orientation or training". Still got another job with no issues.
2007....Stevens. Bailed off the trainer's truck (lack of "verifiable experience" BS) as soon as the truck hit PA. Told the trainer I was leaving prior, informed the company three hours later after I was sitting at my house. Language I used was...uhh...less than polite, let's say? Again, DAC report says "quit/terminated during orientation or training". Again, no issues with getting another job.
2007...Werner, later in the year. Got into a war of the ages with my dispatcher (running solo, not a student anymore). Again, there was a use of language one would not use in polite company. I was under a dispatched load, I TOLD my dispatcher I was leaving the load at a drop yard convenient to me (not the freight), and that I was leaving the truck in a company owned but not secured drop yard that was also more convenient to me. Not a single black mark on my DAC.
My personal experience says that unless you are with a company that is known for marking DAC's deliberately, piss on them and cruise. I have yet to have an issue, and I doubt you will either.
For all the fear mongers, get over yourselves.volvodriver01, Cranky Yankee, otherhalftw and 3 others Thank this. -
I am not telling you what to do, just what I would have done back then, First off, YOU don't have a job offer until you fill out ALL of the required P/W AND you get cleared to drive BY THAT CARRIERS SAFETY DEPT AND THEIR INSURANCE COMPANY.
IF you are still in training, NO reputable company will hire you because you will not have the blessing of their ins. company. Any company that says they can hire you without the proper background checks probably won't be around much longer anyway.
MY ADVICE TO YOU, Put your big boy pants on and stick it out, it builds character, something that is sorely needed these days.
I have been in business for myself for probably more years than you are old, GUESS who still takes the ###### NYC runs, GUESS who still empties the trash if I get to it first, GUESS who cleans the toilet if no one else has done it. GUESS who still runs that last minute holiday load that comes from your no. one account after you have sent everyone else home?
Learn from this, know what to look for next time you go looking for a job so that this doesn't happen, because if you don't, you will forever be hopping around looking for a job, THAT is just as bad as anything anybody wants to put on your DAC.
This company made a commitment to train you, you are lucky as you have stated you like your trainer, you must have made some kind of a commitment to them, honor you word till the job is done.
I'm off my soap box, times yours.
Stanotherhalftw, G/MAN, NavigatorWife and 7 others Thank this.
