While the exact status of the OP is unknown I disagree that no reputable company will hire him . Plenty of drivers have succeeded after leaving poor training circumstances .

You may be right Rick, I am just speaking to the insurance companies we have had over the years, and it IS getting harder for a small company to hire green drivers, any kind of a blem on that record will not help him.

Also don't misunderstand me, I am speaking more to his moralities in life than to his "what can I get away with and still get hired". Without more info from the OP, it is impossible to know what he is exp. I just didn't want him to leave a position that he ALREADY has for some pie in the sky promise that someone told him about, that's all.

China your post are usually thoughtful and very helpful! But you painted with to wide of brush. I agree most are just using trainees like you say. But not all. I am not allowed to sleep while the trainee is driving. Have to be in the pass seat . That is training. Seeing what's he/she is doing wrong and correcting it. Don't think you ment to paint like that. But it's important to point out the differences. One the trainee is learning , other one no.

well i wasnt in "training" but i was 2nd seat MANY years ago..decided to get off the truck, because the lead driver was unbearable (now my husband, but wasnt then)....altho still unbearable at times tho...LOL,sorry sidetracked....I CALLED safety, and told them i needed off the truck and why..THEY arranged for me to ride back to the yard with another driver (same company) altho my lead driver was driving for an O/O....anyway they arranged for me to get off the truck..(i NEVER even told the lead driver) i was jumping ship.....i had it all arranged with safety...when he found out, he even tried to have me fired....but it DIDNT work or go on my record, because i went thru safety..btw this was with a mega carrier,PRIME......i cant tell you what to do and of course this was back in 1991....but just my thoughts on it....

just went back and read his "why" which really isnt a "why" after all....if its just cuz you "want off" stick it out til you can get to a terminal....i thought maybe it was a safety issue or horrible trainer etc....

i had a horrible trainer who had a "night time" job as well...and used to lock me out of the truck when we stopped at the truck stop , while she "visited" other trucks...i waited til we got back to the yard to get another trainer.....suck it up....LOL

I am listening to your advice and I appreciate all of it. I talk to my trainer and after reading what you guys have read decided to just put in my notice so that after the next run I am done. I'm sorry if I confused any of you guys or didn't explain myself correctly or left holes in my question.

I think you would be fine if you jumped ship.... that said I agree with some of the others just because something doesn't go your way doesn't mean you run, heck even if you were being treated horribly stick it out, nothing worse in life then knowing you didn't do your part.

That is probably the correct course of action, you're notifying them of your intentions. What you should expect back is a meeting to see what exactly happened to determine why you are leaving. They may also listen to your needs and try to make it work for you, if they don't then it's not worth staying. Keep in mind leaving before your training is complete and terms of the completion of training may result in a financial obligation.
