Sorry Charlie, most companies who train students do not pay them per mile, but per weekly compensation. They are not considered lead drivers, can not move the truck without the trainer on board, and are not considered "employees" until they complete the training and are certified to drive for that company. Students quit or get "put off the truck" all the time and usually will mosey on to the next training company.

Boy, I'm shore glad I "sucked it up" and continued to tolerate the abusive trainers, abusive carriers, abusive shippers and recievers and all the other crap that comes with being a truck driver in the modern age. Why, I bet if I had stuck with it I could make a blistering $25,000 a year! As opposed to the $35,000 plus a full benefits package and paid days off, paid sick days, and paid vacation!
Quiting the driving game was the best decision I have made yet. As long as there are more and more suckers falling for recruiters' BS, trucking is never going to get better for the driver. Further, I see no reason whatsoever why anyone needs to continue being victimized by XyZ MegaCarrier when they have better opportunities.teddy_bear6506 Thanks this. -

lol he says 35,000 like that's amazing, I was over 50 in my second year of driving. Not bragging by any stretch just an example of what can easily be done if you want it.

I know recruiters lie that's an obvious. All I made an obligation to is that I would allow them to train me and if I didn't complete it then I would still fulfill my financial obligation for the schooling. I didn't commit my life to this company just because they trained me. All I said is yes if I got through the program and quit before my time I will back back what I owe.
teddy_bear6506, otherhalftw and LaBubba Thank this.
