Now you tell us the rest of the story,,, you got Malware. It could have lead to a different path if you told what happened in the beginning instead of blaming Windows 10, which was not the cause. You opened a site that had MalWare and now you have an affected machine. If you had mentioned that you could have saved $100 as most of us that replied could have helped you in that course of action.
Rule 1 - do not open links or websites if you are not sure.
Rule 2 - Google it first and see what it is.MidWest_MacDaddy and snowwy Thank this. -
I would load CCleaner and clean your computer up.. Then in the lower left on the magnifying glass type in "create a restore point", then on the bottom right create a restore point. I would suggest you type in the date as the name for the system restore point.
snowwy Thanks this. -
well, gee, Mark Kling Technical Support Engineer III, were I a Technical Support Engineer III, I might have asked, "what happened or what did you do immediately prior to your computer not working?" However, since I'm not a Technical Support Engineer III, I'm sure I don't or couldn't understand the nuances of Technical Support.
That said, while indeed you are a Technical Support Engineer III, your comments have been of no use to me. However, I do understand that it is much about how you ask the question. Thank you again for you arrogance. (You realize nobody appreciates it, right???). -
You could have started off with that statement in the beginning which would have not kept everyone guessing. I offered choices, yet you did not take them. Others offered choices, but all you did was mention what was not working.
No one can read your mind and no one can know what happened. You led everyone on the premise of an Windows 10 upgrade. You as the OP have to give us the details of what happened in the beginning. You asked for help, you got help, just not the help you needed since you got Malware.
Since Windows does nothing to affect users files unless you do a Complete install (bare bone), you should have not had issues. This is what was confusing everyone.
I would suggest the next time you have an issue, give the history of the issue first. -
got it

I go through my registry about every 3 months to clean out files that do not belong. ASK is one of them.
Toolbars - they grow on you.. do an custom install each time and chose not to install them
Uninstall files - go through it and delete programs not needed.
Startup - unclick programs not needed in startup, this will let your computer boot faster. -
He, and others here, were trying to help you.
No need to get snarky with anyone.
(Don't bite the hand that feeds you) -
And ironically, I was listening to a national tech radio show and a couple times people called in about Win10 issues similar to yours and both times the host suggested wiping the hard drive clean and a fresh install of Win10.
Seems extreme but I know I used to have to pull that card now and then too.
(Boy I don't miss those days)
