Hi all!
Im needing some advice on a possible truck & trailer purchase. So I found the truck & trailer combo online from an individual. $20,000 for both. Million mile on odometer.
The price is extremely cheap so I’m abit skeptical. Anyway, if it’s legit, what paperwork should I be receiving on both besides the title and a bill of sale? (I’ve seen the titles via messenger and the person had shown the truck via live chat and it started and drove (short area in a field, not highway)
Also here is the interesting part...
the titles are in the fathers name and he is out of the country (I’ve never spoken to the actual father). The person selling it said they will sign their name to the title and send it along with the keys after payment either in person or via bank transfer. The person says the father wants it sold as he can no longer drive and is out of the country anyway.
What would I need to cover myself before purchase?

Keys and signed title on the table before handing over money.
That’s after having the truck thoroughly checked out.
To me it sounds like a scam, not because of the price but “owner out of the country”.Solo Soul, GoneButNotForgotten, Diesel Dave and 3 others Thank this. -
What year and what kind of truck and trailer?
-
This is 100% a scam. Price is too cheap, the actual "owner" is out of the country, and op hasn't even seen the truck/trailer to verify its real.

Listen, there's only one way that son, which he most certainly is not his son, can sell that truck legally without the father and that is only if he has legal power of attorney. And that is not something you just happen to have. Almost always power of attorney is because the other person has a medical condition that they cannot make their own decisions any longer.
No one, I repeat no one, can sign over a legal title of a vehicle to another person except for the actual owner of that vehicle.
Run for your life this is absolutely a scam.Solo Soul, OldeSkool, Diesel Dave and 3 others Thank this. -
Try asking for maintenance records, see what they say.

Scam. Tell them your going to come see it. They’ll probably quit responding. Also talk to them over the phone.

When they say it’s to good to be true.
