Make sure you can be insured before you start anything.

A lot of new people I have talked to can't afford the insurance and a couple can't even get it because of their past.

Check with insurance company, sometime they do it for free, you pay the fees only..
    Mc# $300 , dot is free, ucr $71 and boc 3 filling around $30 .. otherwise you pay $700-$1300

Oh, and keep in mind that Progressive is the last one standing for most NEW MC's.

Read somewhere that starting 2018 they've (Progressive) been requiring 50% down and 50% within 30days...with policies starting at 15K/yr

There is a lot of steps to actually having your own active authority. I was almost overwhelmed, but take it one piece at a time. Took me a month to get everything squared away, and that was without buying equipment. Don’t fall for letting some other company do things for you that you can do yourself. That’s just flushing money, and trust me when I say you need to have every spare dollar you can. That way Uncle Sam can take it later...

I paid my own in full, and saved $2500. $12,000 total for truck and trailer.
