Duker is right about ultra vs auto

although these should not be considered totally automatic transmissions. They are NOT automatics. they are automaticly shifted manual transmisions.

    Big Duker Thanks this.

what are you talking about "experimental" that transmission is in probably 75% of large company trucks ordered in the last year or two. I just got out of one myself

Hunter, quit being a jerk. he answered the question you asked and was perfectly nice about it. I still don't see what you're whining about

    Well MM,

I got all the info I needed and found my hunch was indeed correct. You can run a 13spd like a 9 unless you are fully loaded.

Bottom line is if you want a good reliable trans set up get a 13 or 18 speed, manual, and call it a day. At least YOU control it, it doesent control you!

the kids these days will never "get it" everyone expects to be pampered these days. I hated the #### automatic and it will become a maintenance nightmare but when you go to work for a national company and expect a new truck every two years then who cares

Exactly, im kinda old school at my young age, i would never take a automatic, i even hate automatic cars.

My old man had a ex hd 359 with a 5x4 in it, thats what i learned on, talk about a cluster **** lol. But it was fun to a certain extent. They should teach kids on those at truck driving school in my opinion.

most people think you just put one stick in one gear then shift the other through the pattern then go back to the firsts trans and do the next and then shift the other pattern again.
They don't realize that very few of the gears overlap like they should and you end up shifting all over the place. I've never driven one, I'v watched them shifted and it's just a mess

Well you can do that, shift the main once and then the aux 4 times lol. But you dont need to. Its like a 18 speed, no need to split the bottom side of the trans, unless you have to, like going up a steep hill with heavy load etc. But for the most part in the lower gears i would skip the first 2 in the aux and just shift the top 2 gears. I wouldnt want one today, screw that, even my old man said the best day of his life in trucking is when they come out with the roadranger!

Dont know what butters sees in them.
