I'm not looking to be my own trucking company, per se. I'm looking to get loads dispatched to me from companies that get loads from several brokers and give them to contractors.

Right now, I do that with driveaway companies for box trucks and tractors. The trucks are the freight and in driving the actual truck itself to where it goes. The driveaway companies just get orders from their customers and dispatch them to contract drivers if those drivers want loads. So I operate like a very small business and file a 1099 every year.

I'd like that same setup, but instead of delivering trucks as my freight, I'd like to buy a box van or larger non-CDL straight truck and deliver regular freight. And I'd like to stay fairly local (approximately a 150 - 200 mile radius, max).

    My main two questions are:

    1. Could you give me some good company names who do that in the DFW area?

    2. What are the minimum requirements (easiest way) to get started or a link to exactly this question's answer in this forum?

    Thanks so much.

If you don't know already, which you might. Thats called hot shot. By tipping your toe in amd staying under cdl. May prove to be less Frieght. But get your name known.
DFw is a huge area.you may do quite well. Have you considered the oil fields?
Or pallets or flat stock cardboard?
I can't really help directly with a link. But in the search bar try, non cdl hot shot. This website does touch on hot shot topics. But I don't know if its under cdl.
    Good luck.

    Thanks for the responses, guys.

I may go with a CDL flatbed so I have more loads available.

I'm basically looking for hotshot brokers. They'll be able to tell me what I need to get started as a contractor. But I had hoped someone here would already be doing that sort of thing and explain a few things I need to do first. I didn't see a hotshot forum, though.
