What they are telling you is correct. You do not need to worry about IFTA or fuel decals. What you do need to worry about is the fact that your truck is an alien. You have to register it with MIB.

    Not for hire is meaningless.

You spent all this money on it, overthinking all of it and you could have avoided these issues with just registering it as an rv. I've done it.

In PA to register this thing as an RV is nearly impossible. I need running or potable water, a cooking appliance, toilet facility, etc. I wish I could, but I don't see any way to make that happen.

That's all easy to put in if you have a sleeper.

    Many do.

But have you thought of registering it in another state and then transfer it back to pa?

I've checked with an enhanced inspection station. To convert to RV you need at least 4 of the following:

    1 - Cooking appliance (microwave; that's easy)
2- Refrigerator (already in there, that's easy)
    3 - Running water (sink / faucet)
    4 - Self contained toilet
5 - Heating and AC (they don't know if the controls in the sleeper for heat / ac from the engine are good enough)
6 - gas line or 110 electrical hookup

3 - 6 are the criteria I don't meet. I have a sleeper but it's already tight. Don't know how I would get those extras in there.

Regarding titling in another state: I hadn't thought about it. Would that make titling it as an RV easier? And don't I need a residential address in another state to even consider doing that?

There was a story I read a while back about people who were registering RVs in Montana. Apparently there are private companies there that specialize in helping out of staters with the process of doing this.

    JoeF2002 Thanks this.

Joe ask your questions on RV forum. Many of them use trucks as RV trailer puller.
