And this about Cummins engines.
So why did i post these problems here?
To show that you will find lemons with all brands, that's why i have allways advised anyone "if you are buying a late model truck, buy it brand spanking new so you have full warranty from the factory.
In Guntoter's case i'm shure he would have been able to return the truck to Peterbilt by now(had it been a new truck).
Granted he would have had to buy a new Peterbilt in exchange but at least his lemon would be gone. -

Daf, I understand your loyalty to the Paccar engine but you have to know that they are not being honest. Thats not the opinion of a few random anonymous posters on a trucking forum, that is the opinion of several highly paid attorneys (they would not accept this case if they didn't think they could win) it is also the opinion of the EPA and at least one Federal Judge. We'll see where this goes but one thing you and others should consider is this, if this is even partially true, Paccar will have destroyed its name in the U.S. forever and will take the once great names of Peterbilt and Kenworth with them. Those names are already destroyed in my book, and I'm sure with the tens of thousands of those who were lied to then abandoned by Paccar. http://www.qulegal.com/15-08-28-17-PACCAR-Amended-Complaint.pdf -

First off, no truck is unfixable, Yes, you can have lemons and trucks that seem to have more issues, but each issue should be able to be fixed. You mentioned in another thread that you were considering removing all the can bus in the dash and reverting to manual gauges. Not only will it not work, it will be a waste of time as that CAN system is not the system that you are having problems with. The CAN codes you are having are part of the aftertreatment harness. THere is nothing wrong with the dash side of the truck. If you are intent at throwing parts at the truck, get them to replaced the OEM engine to firewall harness and the chassis aftertreatment harness. The OEM engine to firewall harness can sometimes have the loom rub through the wires and give issues, The aftertreatment harness gets routed around the cab mounts and under the frame rail and if not sequred correctly will easily rub through. Both can give you intermittent problems like you are facing, I would also check out the fuse bolted to the side of the battery box. Replace the fuse holder and both cable ends, The cable ends can get corrosion into them and visually look okay, but be almost broken on the inside. That fuse powers the engine and aftreatment system.

Ecms are a almost fail free device. I have seen many changed for no reason at all. I will agree that Paccar ecm programming has been poor from the start but with each ecm flash, they get better and better.
I have fixed quite a few Paccars. Some have been easier then others. Some have been trouble free and I know of a couple that are nearing 1 million k. Not saying they are a perfect engine, however they have been very good for us with a few problem childs.daf105paccar Thanks this. -
Guntoter,i have had issues with my Paccars but the difference is how they handle it.When they wanted my truck for 3 days to work on it,they gave me a demo truck.Days lost 0.That's a big difference to you, right?
