So are you folks saying there are states that dont require insurance, or do you mean there are states that require you are essentially self insured and must prove you have the finances to do so ?
I do not know any of the details surrounding it since I would never go uninsured I just know you are not required to carry auto ins in NH. If it was set up where you are basicly self insured that would make a little sense but I have no clue

In NH you are not required to carry Liability Insurance if you can prove you have enough Financial Backing or Funds to cover and pay for any accident you are involved in. So if you are in a accident that winds up costing a million dollars in damage, you better have the funds to cover it.

Looks like there are 4 states, but after reviewing it quickly looks like you still have to prove something to the state as far as financial responsibility or pay a bond in one case. (chart at the very bottom of this Wikipedia page). But who cares, this poster wants paid and made a driver lose his job when he shouldn't have been driving anyway. what does minimum liability insurance cost - about $250.00 a year ? he would have had his car fixed in full if he had current insurance. Now i hope he/she gets beat out of any repairs --cause that's what he was planning on doing to someone else by driving without insurance.
Oh and FYI:I cant believe any of you drivers are giving him any kind of advice, since i have seen most drivers on here "Hang" people for stupid stuff like going 1 minute over on their log book or driving in the fast lane. ( no one in particular -just in general)

Have you tried State Farm? My quote was way cheaper than Progressive's quote. Farm Bureau, SafeAuto, Direct, The General and a couple others I've checked all beat them. Sure they are cheaper than Geico and some of the other big names. But they are still higher than many. About middle ground is where they stand. You can pay Flo's salary, I'm not! :)

State farm actually undercut progressive in half for me, but a year later progressive undercut them, insurance seems to be something you have to consistently shop for to get the best rates.

The general has always been freaking high every time I have checked.

In my experience, at least in California, if you're driving without insurance and get into an accident you are not entitled to any money. In 2005 I bumped a car (rear ended) on a wet road. No damage to my truck but I cracked the bumper on the car I hit. The lady didn't have insurance and my insurance company informed me that they would not pay for the damage and that it would not go on my record.

Funny. Had you been drunk and rear ended the trailer and died and that trucker was 1 minute over his clock, he would go to jail because he wasn't supposed to be there

You drive without insurance and want to get paid. Even though you weren't supposed to be there.

Something is wrong with this picture

Alright guy...you're in a bit of a fix.

Did the LEO ask for your insurance info?

No citations issued. No insurance. No court date. Just an accident report. Just your word against his. "You could have backed up as he was turning trying to run a scam and get paid." <<<--------(That's what his insurance company will claim). Something tells me that your car isn't worth $3000.

Are you still driving, or did you get canned for YOUR accident? How long ago did your insurance lapse? Probably soon after you got canned, right? Any eyewitnesses (preferably not a friend or relative of yours as their character will be in question too)? Do you have anything to add to help your case?

First off, I WAS NOT IN SOUTH BEND, INDIANA so there is no way in hell that you got hit when I turned left there.

Second Poster who pointed out that you should not have been there without insurance is correct. Your claim will lose some of its value.

Third get a lawyer. Right now. Lawyers who sue truck companies love their work. All truckers have a minimum of 1 million dollars worth of insurance.

Fourth, Rent a car. You should not have to suffer the loss of a vehicle.

Fifth, get a fifth, your neck hurts. Soft tissue damage. Night mares. Are you wetting the bed now? How about the John Henry? Does he still stand up and salute? Lost of love making abilities pays really well. And as a trucker it is an ability you really won't be needing.

Progressive insurance is owned by George Soros. No way in hell you should give money to that company.

Finally, if all you are after is getting your car fixed, call his insurance company. They will fix it quickly. Do tell them that you are going to be renting a car and they will pay for that. Also go see a doctor. One who works for the mob.

On a side note. While I was in prison, I met a guy. Strange man. Very strange. He was in for cooking meth. Lots of folks were. One day he, out of the blue, asked me if I want to see pictures of his wife and kids. Sure, I said. He pulls out photographs of bodies along side the highway in southern Missouri. His wife and 3 young children were all killed by a truck driver. The dead bodies were in horrible condition but those were the only pictures he had of his children.

Thank God you were not hurt.
