First off I wasn't flaming anyone and secondly I did read the entire post I'm saying there should be someone that can train him besides drivers.

You haven't been around too many small vocational shops have you? That's not always how things are. Trucking isn't necessarily the main focus at these places. So no, not everyone there knows how to operate certain pieces of equipment.

That makes more sense. I figured l was missing something there if they were depending solely on air to flush the lines. Thanks

I hauled liquid asohalt.Got hired green as a dollar bill but I had 2 different drivers teach me.Reason I had 2 show me the ropes is because I was hired to do more then unload asphalt at job sites. There was 16 drivers and a few from another company.I wouldn't wanna drive for a company and have to learn everything on my own.Too many things can go very wrong.

No your still missing the point, we have a trailer where I work and I can assure you I'm the only one that knows anything about that trailer. That's not saying there aren't others the can't pull it but if I were to quit and a new guy took over there would me no one to train him including the owner. It is common to have a single specialty piece of equipment that a single person knows how to run. Maybe they bought the trailer and hired them other guy to run it so no one else learned, can you grasp that concept?

This is one of a million reasons why the trucking industry as a whole has a bad safety rating newbies have to learn everything on there own.

That's not true. An intelligent person can figure out quite a bit on their own. This, industry's problem is hiring the wrong people
