Need help with lug sizes and removal tool

You're looking for one of these:
Drive it on, and the same 1-1/2" socket that you used on the outer nut will pull off the broken inner nut. DO NOT use a pipe wrench, unless you want to replace the studs as well. Pipe wrenches will often times distort the broken piece of inner nut and trash the threads...ESPECIALLY if it is being stubborn.

The proper tool for the job will pay for itself in saved aggravation, time, and damaged parts.

If your running Budd wheels that broke stud tool will get used often. I also carry a couple left side and right side studs. (Goes in hub) a couple of barrel nuts. (Has the square drive) and a couple of outter nuts. It's not rocket science but seems every time I have a tire fixed on the road they manage to strip a stud going back. I don't want to hear be tomorrow before I can have parts

 

I forget where I got mine...NAPA perhaps? Bought it the first time I was at Mack with broken inner nuts and they were using a pipe wrench and thrashed 3 out of 5 studs. Saw a tire shop use one and decided I needed it in my tool box as well. I'll try to look here after a while...

this isn't a big deal. They break all the time. Just cut it off with a torch. Take another with ya to the local parts store so you get the same length. Also make sure you get the right thread, left hand thread or right handed.

Yes problem was solved while ago. I have spares with me in the truck now. And going to order this emergency removal tool to keep with as well. DOT here in CT is brutal so not a big deal yes I agree but definitely something I don't want to drive around with for even a day around here
