I love Scranton. Make sure you do some research. All companies have their Pro's and Con's,you need to find the one that is best for you. Good luck.

If you don't mind the work that comes along with flatbed I would recommend Boyd Brothers or TMC. They both are good about getting you home for the weekend. I started with Boyd and would recommend them to anyone thats starting out. Right now there starting students at $0.38 per mile, with a sign on bonus, and they offer tuition reimbursment if you got a loan to go to school. There starting pay is higher than what most of the other companys listed in this thread top out at. Once you get some time in you can try to find something local or regional.

Im driving for TMC. I get home almost every week-end and pull in 1000+ a week. I only drive around 2000 miles a week so my pay averaged .44/mile although i take % pay instead of per mile. The first 2 months your fm may have trouble getting you home. Once he understands your rythim of driving and finds some good shippers near you you'll get home a lot. I wasnt home much my first 2 months but now am home almost every week-end. My FM has found a few shippers that are 3 hours away so its a slam dunk to get home on friday.
