the only possible reason i can come up with, is what someone else already said, you cannot drive while on those meds....you would be quite useless to a trucking company, as you'll be waiting for the effects of the meds to dissipate enough for you to drive. they just cannot chance you behind the wheel....

the only other "advice" to give you is, ask your doctor for a non-narcotic medication for you, and wait about 30 to 40 days before you apply for jobs again, as this "might" help get some of that codeine in your system now flushed out. this would NOT be cheating a pre-employment drug screening, you WILL BE getting off your powerful narcotic meds for a lesser one.

you know, its times like this i always ask, "why didn't the school TELL YOU there might be a problem...??? and ADVISE YOU SOONER"..?????

i really do wish you all the best, and ask your doctor for a non-narcotic medication.

I think the school may have purposely overlooked it. Kevin there is no way you are going to legally be able to drive a commercial vehicle while taking narcotics. Even with a doctor's note. Hell diabetics aren't even allowed to have a CDL. I would have a serious talk with your doctor or lawyer up and go after the school for your money back. I seriously hate giving you news like this especially when your fighting to keep a roof over your head for your family but unless you stop the meds immediately then there aren't a lot of options. Even with stopping the meds you are going to need a doctors note explaining the failed drug test to every company you apply for. Good luck to you, keep is informed.
