You will need everything associated with a Business.

Your Court House, Tax Revenuer and whatever local Agencies of Government is responsible for licensing, incorperating to protect your personal assets and taxation etc will all be involved in this thing you think on doing.

A DOT number plus a MC number? It's above my pay grade. You probably will be paying for commercial vehicle plates even if it is a smaller vehicle. You will be thinking about permitting, sources for same and curfews in the states you plan on escorting in. then there is low clearances, bridges. Utility information in case you discover a lower than legally code required power wire across the road you are on etc. Piles of information to be ready to be used.

Your insurance will change. This is not liability or full coverage like any one. You will be taking on more and paying more.

Im sorry I cannot offer specifics. I dabbled at being a owner operator that just bought a tractor for a week in the mid 90's and am happy I did not get too deep into that rabbit hole then. (The Lord closes a door and you should not try to break it down.) however it was a complete and total learning experience as always. Im not afraid of buying a tractor and or trailer but when you get down into small vehicles being pilots? Well, you want to talk more with the boys and girls in TTR who do Heavy Haul. They will know a whole lot better than just little old me.
