Are you sure your contract doesn't provide for a specific number of retests? Any school that charges you an additional fee to retest after the first fail is taking you for a ride, IMHO.

Watch youtube videos and study it. Practice sittinf in a chair, use a water bottle as a shifter and move left leg like ur working the clutch. And work on the rythm of it . then when u get in the truck take that same rhythm and match it to the rpms and it will all start to fall in place.

I think you're on salary until you acquire the cdl, then get regular truck driver pay after hitting the road.

The Escort/Pilot Car Driver is responsible to lead from origin to destination for heavy haul, OD cargo and serves as a warning to others on the road that an oversized load is coming through. The Escort/Pilot Car Driver escorts an oversized load and protects the motoring public and protects the load while helping the driver to avoid all of the obstacles that occur when hauling a large or heavy load. The Escort assists the driver, negotiating tight corners and moving around signage, avoid low-hanging trees, ensure clearance of low overpasses and low lying power lines.
Responsibilities
- Warn other drivers and the motoring public that the oversized load is on the road.
- Block lanes when necessary and appropriate as some state laws will not allow.
- Signal the OD Driver when they can safely change lanes.
- Let the OD Driver know whether it is safe to drive onto a narrow bridge or if there is an obstruction in the road ahead.
- Evaluate whether and OD load can safely enter a tunnel or start moving around a curve.
- Must be able to operate a forklift and become forklift certified.
- Must have professional appearance and adhere to the dress code policy.
- Must adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Work with OD Driver to ensure cargo is secure and the load arrives without incident/claims.
- Assist OD Driver in trailer setup and breakdown and loading/securing the load.
- Drive with the ability to be over the road up to 2 weeks at a time.
- Regular operator’s license but willing to obtain Class A CDL.
- Basic math and measuring, reading and writing skills; map reading skills.
- Flexibility in work schedules.
- High school or equivalent.
- Ability to work with hand tools (load securements).
- Certified in the lower 48 states or be willing to certify; must have or be able to obtain passport card for Canada and TWIC card.
