We've used them in the past and probably will in the future too but you have to be careful of the weight you put on them. I used one to hang two coats on and they didnt hold the weight.

That will keep you from gettin under the bunk for the center compartment . The same idea of a shelf but legs coming down from the bottom of the top bunk . Tht would allow you in under the lower bunk. And sounds like they will not fold the upper bunk. Hope this helps. Also rolling clothes takes less room than folding them .

Yes that's true, but i have no storage under my bunk due to all the apu goodies under there, but I can access the two side bins. So yeah, if you don't have an apu then you would want to be able to raise the bunk to get at that storage.

Good point and I havent actually had the chance to look under the bunk. We had to stow and go, so its a chaotic mess right now. First time we get her home, Ill work on organization.

As far as a Iron skillit, I had one in my PETE and if you live by rand mcnally heres what i did. For storage since its flat it stayed at the foot of the baed since theres a small gap at the head and the foot of it. So I stuck it in there after it cooled from use. But I would take my Atlas and close it, because the covers are thicker than the pages that I need to look at, and would set it on my atlas. It worked without melting believe it or not. For cleanup to be easy my wife had some leftover puppy training pads left over. they soak grease up easily unlike papertowels. I also had a george forman. She would pat out hamburger patties and chicken fingers(grilled, not breaded,) and I would stick them in the small little freezer section at the top of the fridge. This saved signigantly on the space required for a cooler, not to mention the cost of eating out. I had two closets in the pete and I was able to take the clothes bar out and put a plastic 5 drawer stackable inside. I put my mircrowave on top of that and that had to be wedged in. SO it all sat perfectly. Im prior military so OCD, I know what you mean bro. That was for the food. Noodles, popcorn, grits, oatmeal, and some snacks. The other closet I had duffel bags. I rolled my clothes. Each roll consisted of socks, undies, shirt, all rolled up inside of jeans. 6 rolls equalled six days of clothing. My main duffle had my rolls of clothes. My shower back had a fresh roll. So when I would go to take a shower I would put old clothes in Laundry bag, take a fresh roll out and put in my shower bag so that I could always be ready for a shower. Sometimes this was helpful in the event that I knew I was sleeping ath the customer, or a rest area, I could pull in to a truckstop, grab my bag that was prepared already and take a quick shower before pulling over for the night. I stuck two six pack eggs in fridge with some bacon, butter, and drinks. Yeah, I don't like moving from truck to truck. You can see why. I have way to much. But those stakable five drawer things from walmart were life savers for space. Under the bunk for things that I needed but didnt use often. For the power inverter I had a extension cord with the 3 ends. If you have a 1800 wattt inverter, you should be abled to keep your tv and dvd plugged in on standby and run the microwave all without trouuble. The george forman could run instead of the microwave, but the Iron skillet should be plugged in by itself. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Awesome idea re rolling complete days worth of clothes. I hadnt thought of that. After 6 days on the road, two people in the truck....thats plenty of time to go without doing laundry. Ive gotten pretty good at taking the old stuff out of my washin up bag and putting it in the laundry bag and putting fresh clothes in. Time is of the essence at truck stops when its time to shower....if there is no waiting, I wanna be first in line. Im thinking that it would be pretty easy to make a shelf that hangs under the bottom bunk (said by a woman who doesnt use tools....guess what I mean is that I think it will be easy to get my SO to make that shelf, with me supervisin him) for appliances. We've got an apu and I imagine all that stuff takes up the under the bunk storage compartment....I hate accessing that area anyway (take pillows and blankets off bunk...take blankie off bunk, move items stored at either end of bunk....LIFT that bunk bed up and pray that it'll stay up long enough for me to get what I need without closing and taking my head off). Wouldnt it be nice if that under bunk storage was a pull out drawer??? Maybe my calling is to design sleeper berths for semi's? One huge peeve of mine is the wasted space on the passenger side cabinets wayyyy up at the top in the sleeper berth area. Its at the opposite end of the bunk where my head goes, and isnt easily accessible from either in the bunk or on the floor. The other aggrevation of mine is the expectation that I, as a 5'4" woman can climb up into that bunk using the handholds and foot spaces they have provided. Step up on the bunk, next step on the edge of the desk...then throw my other foot wayyyy across the aisle to the dresser and hoist myself up on the bunk. AINT GONNA HAPPEN. Volvo and other companies provide ladders to accomplish that climb....why cant freightliner??? Ill check out the stackable bins or drawers. Im not sure if the closet space in the truck is wide enough to accomdate something like that but Ill find out. Puppy pads are a good idea for soaking up grease or I could just do like I do at home and have a grease jar and then Id just have to wipe the appliance off good with paper towels.

I think you got the idea. I use the puppy pads mainly for the splatter. And whats in the grease trap gets poured out under the trailer.
