I'm out of Buffalo. We're Mon-Fri, weekend work optional but usually available. But every facility is different. Some are 7 day, and run a regional-type operation, while we're home every day. And lease purchase drivers don't do well, real owner-ops do well, at least in my area.
Never. I'm happy with somebody else paying the repair bills, tires, fuel, taxes etc etc. If my truck breaks down I use a spare. But if you own it and it breaks down, you are losing money every day it's in the shop.
Officially left the iron hauling company today, (oddly truck broke down last night, so I couldn't take my last haul) I leave on Sunday for JB Hunt Orientation in Chicago. I"ll be doing intermodal, I'm hoping it is everything that it is hyped up to be. just curious, is JB E Logging?
Yes and no...we WILL ALL be soon, but not all our trucks have it as of yet. JB is having all its new trucks equipped with the electronic logs but are not retrofitting existing trucks. But many of the larger facilities are using them already, I would imagine Chicago is. Our operation in Buffalo is about half and half.
