So probably no reason they wouldn't hire someone from out of state if they qualify for the job being applied for?

I'm going to driving school in Oct. and will be done in Dec., is there anything I can do (besides getting experience as otr or somewhere else) that can make me stand out from other applicants who may or may not have experience on me? And I'm not bashing otr, theres just no way I could do it, I love seeing my family too much. I guess what I'm asking is what are they looking for in a driver applicant and if you had any advice?

Especially since I'll be applying to Oregon from another state.

No a driver apprentice gets trained thru fedex to get their cdl A. U could go that way instead of going to driving school but its no guarantee on how long it would take them to respond to your app. You can also apply for a dock workers job and get in sooner, then apply for the driver's apprentice job. Decisions huh? Lol I understand the local thing I've been local since I started driving.

I ask because I've never seen a driver apprentice listing on their website.

This could be awhile until one of those come up huh? would it be better to just get a cdl and apply for a driver job?
