Oh dag I read it wrong, if they ever have a driver apprentice opening u. Should apply for it but they don't post that all the time depending on the terminal. If u get a job with them as whatever, u could always talk to the terminal manager about becoming a driver but I would still call first because every terminal is different!
Need info on Fedex Freight (NJ)

So even if Fedex Careers website doesn't list a driver apprentice job for Portland Oregon, just call up the terminal manager there and ask, or even ask to put in an app. for one ahead of time if they don't have an opening? Then keep calling and checking up on it to stand out in the managers mind?

What most guys that ive known at fedex started out as a dock worker and then became a driver. I wouldn't say don't go to school and get your cdl, but with fedex u do have options on applying for different jobs. You should definitely contact the terminal manager and ask about that particular terminal.

Another thing, when it gets slow usually the dock guys still works and truck drivers stay home or go to different terminals to work.
-
Does that happen very often though?

Hey I finally see the driver apprentice on the website, any idea how much the apprentice job pays? How long it takes to make it to driver?
-
Different areas, different pay but u would get the same pay as a regular driver. I don't know how long training is.

Been with Conway Freight for almost 2 months, and its been going well for me, but id still like to see whats up with linehaul @ fedex..my terminal is super small and we barely have 7 solid linehaul runs per night
-
Line haul runs are always available at my terminal, especially during the slow season.
