The truck is worth just about the same whether the engine is running or not. Sell it and get what you can an upgrade to a newer truck. As is means exactly that...as is with broken motor.
I understand the fact that you may like the truck and your driver may like the truck, but don't let emotion get in the way of making a business decision.
