You need to have a current attorney the workman's comp claim does not go away just because the employment ended, You need to consult with a Workmans comp lawyer. They get there money from the insurance settlement, you may also have money coming to you, of course the insurance company won't tell you that. But Consultations dont cost you anything. Also as far as future employers I never tell them about prior medical, none of there business, medical is private. Just because someone ask does not mean you have to tell them.

Your right to keep your mouth shut, use it, just show it as employed there 12 months, and go to work. If you were with a trainer for 6 months use caution and move forward. You'll be fine.

    Gunny376 and Chinatown Thank this.

Gunny here is another option. KLLM/FFE, since you need more training without telling them. 90% of their trucks are automatic, but they require you to have no restrictions. They have a refresher class / training for drivers to remove the automatic restriction. Linehaul is also no touch.

Gunny how the companies you apply to know about the restrictions?
If it's on your medical card just go take another medical. You can do this at any time even if your card does not expire for some time.

Gunny376, Rideandrepair and Lepton1 Thank this.

Like Ridgeline said, forget the trainer, get you a job, get in a truck and go. When I first got my company truck and was turned loose I couldn't back or shift worth a crap, but I got it done. Endorsements are nice but for now get signed on with a company with what you got. You can get endorsements later if you want.

I sucked at backing and I ended up teaming. Which sucked too. I did learn how to back. Flat bed less backing. Tankers shorter easier backing and not a lot of it.

Yes, check around; there's probably some small outfit with a few trucks that have lax or more reasonable hiring criteria and aren't as picky as the big companies. Usually find those jobs by word of mouth in your community.

    I tell you this.

I see a horrible accident situation and a possibly a permanent physical lifting. 40 pounds aint too shabby. On paper I am limited to 20 but Ive tossed 60 a few times which cost me for the day but got it done.

I would revisit the compenstation that may be due you, a lawyer will have to look into it.

Keep quiet about information do not volunteer anything. Companies can get 50 souls into that orientation trailer next week, you don't matter if you come with baggage, problems or whatever.

I would also leave off the accident. This was back in what 2006? So you were a medical patient for a while. This is what? 2019? Way beyond the last 10 years. I myself has spent 15 as medical patient rebuilding and replacing body parts as needed among other things. I am pending a very strict scan of the heart system soon to decide my future if possible. I hauled medicine for McKesson in Memphis through a leased carrier, it is absolutely no touch, high security and very high dollar loads in that realm.

Trainers are not a good fit for some drivers. Wise drivers avoid training others. Ive done a spot of training, but got away with it by channeling the spirits of my old instructors who taught god how to convoy in mountains he built.

You are the Corps, and that is your best asset in life. The Ethos should carry you through the rest of it no matter how far you have to fight.

Winter is coming. This is the time to settle in and get used to it. In some parts of the west it is HERE already. Tough storms bring out chains for the tough truckers to keep going. The smart ones park and get a nice dinner and rest up.
