Need more help ! Career path to hold steady

Howdy folks. Glad to be back. My old thread is here ===> I need job advice....Not hopeful with chances.

Area:Memphis , TN
Experience:6 ~


Still based out of Memphis. Im coming up on 2 years doing local intermodal work here. But with the way things are at this company it's time for a change. Accident/citation free during my time here.I don't have any endorsements yet(Will get them if the job is worth it) so im looking for suggestions. I still need to be home daily or if push comes to shove, gone for a day or two and then back, keeping my weekends to focus on family.

So, whats out there?

I know a young guy that's with UPS package delivery and has purchased a home, new car, 2nd baby due soon.
He has union benefits & pension plan & excellent healthcare.

 

Memphis is a solid spot for FedEx

 

Local delivery in Memphis is a death sentence. Crime is out of control in Deetroit on the Mississippi.

 

rephrase that ... it is the chicago on the Mississippi, Detroit is a lot safer than even nashville.

 

Detroit became safer due mostly to attrition. It's only about 1/3 of the city it used to be. Lots of extra space between the remaining houses does wonders on reducing personal conflicts......

 

That is one part of it, not a big part.

What has happened is the fact that the former police chief and the present mayor has said this - arm yourself, the police can not be everywhere. The cops I think still hold gun safety courses for anyone who wants to attend and they have actually praised citizens who stopped others from committing crimes.

Tie this with a prosecutor who is not a political hack and goes after criminals to put them in jail, plus some of these community activists that don’t buy into the blm talking points and have chased out those who came to cause problems, it is a lot safer than Chicago, la and almost all major cities. I think it was considered safer than Toronto.

 

I didnt consider package delivery. Was looking up LTL, fuel, and food.

And yeah, crime is bad here, worst its ever been in my lifetime IMO.
