It's always better if possible, to replace both your Steer tires at the same time. You can keep your older one as a spare.Starboyjim Thanks this.
-
Why does one need to be replaced & the other have good tread? I would buy 2 new, get them spin balanced and a front end alignment. Use the other steer tire for a spare.

Just got 71k out of a set of Firestone's FS591, they had tread life left but the left was starting to get river wear pattern on the outside leaving it out of specs. Alignment is okay, so don't think I've ever gotten more than 75k out of a set of steers.

my last truck (company driver here) i put 60k on it, tires were wearing very nice, had tons of tread on them. tires were micheling xde2(i think, know they were michelin) could have goten anothter 60k out of them very easy. they just moved me into a new truck

1 tire has good tread and the other doesn't because i need an alignment so it's best to get 2 new steers then?
-
yep no sense buying 1, then 6 months later buy another 1

Yes sir, buy2

the best and longest lasting steers when I ran 5 axles and legal weight loads were Generals,,lasted longer than Michilens, I buy in the Midwest from Bouers Tire in Indianapolis,,good fleet prices for O/Os,,also check out www.tireauditor.com
he has fllet prices ,if you don't see a tire brand advertised you like call and tell him what you want and he can get them..I bought a lot of tires from them -
