This is an industry where there are some very successful businessmen who still don't trust these "new" engines with throttle position sensors and unit injectors in place of cables and injector pumps, so relatively speaking, mosfets in cb are VERY new. I'll stick with my 1969s until they croak.

The 2sc1307 and 2sc1969 are workhorses no doubt ....however ....
The MOSFETS are just as good IF you keep in mind they are not the same and handle overload and heat differently. JUST like the FT-100D disaster which was agitated by the fact you buy a 100 watt radio you expect to see 100 watts.
MOSFETS like the 2sc1307 and 2sc1969 will blow up if you get them hot enough and many new radios get hot as hell ...... -
Bruce, the analogy I was trying to make was about the inherent durability and reliability of the older technology, and the reluctance of folks to try something new when the older technology shows itself to be less finicky.

I know what you mean. My father in law drives for Maverick and has one of those new Cascadia trucks and has hell keeping his SWRs down. High SWRs will absolutely kill MOSFETS. So after going through three sets of finals in his Stryker 440, he ended up just gettin a 29 Chrome with the RFX-75 and an echo board. He loves that one and it worked out for me cuz I love the 440. -
Yep its happening everywhere, and yet you have folks singing the praises of these new radios. They aren't near as tuff as the old ones and in the trucking world stuff needs to be pretty rugged to last. Those who have a little knowledge about the limitations of the newer radios will be all right, but most drivers just throw the radio in, hook it up, and go.

It could help if all Drivers would contact the truck manufacters. And let them know that we need more radio friendly trucks. It doesn't matter if you're an O-O, or Company Driver. Maybe if enough did this they would make some changes.

Nevermind - I thought this thread was "need opium".

I agree and have advocated that very thing to my fellow drivers. But you know how truck drivers are, you can't get a group of them do anything. I guarantee if all the drivers called in and complained, about any issue - pick one, to their representatives and senators, things would change! There are a lot of truck drivers out there!! Their switch boards would be jammed!
