all companys get there money from the products they deliver not the driver if the truck aint movin you or the company aint makin no money
there is always someone who isn't happy but the shere mass of people screwed over can not be denied. And by the way. freight SUCKS in TX unless it's border freight. And border freight in general sucks. Unless you like waiting for days to see if your trailer actully makes it over from mexico and then once you get it your lucky if it has any tires and lights left on it.
When a wise person does research, they consider all viewpoints and accept the side with the weight of the evidence. Clearly, all it takes is several hours of reading stories here on the forum to realize that now is not the time to break into the trucking industry. That is, unless one is prepared to essentially break even at best for the first 12-24 months. In other words, only enter if you are after the experience and have someone or something else paying the bills. Don't go in right now expecting to support yourself, much less a family. A wise person learns from the experiences of others in similar situations. Read with open eyes and learn, or pay the consequences.
its funny i live in south tx and i have a 6 people in my family that drive and all say that its very busy in tx and i just dont think they are lying. and as far as trailers coming across the border it sounds like you live up north i have never seen a stripped trailer coming across if they do get stripped they dont come back. you are right there are alot of upset people that have gone to swift but i think its more of a attitude problem towards the company because they thought is was going to be easy and its not. i can find just as many happy folks as i can mad ones that have worked for swift. but you gotta start some where and swift is as good as any
I should do a search to see how many times i've had this exact same conversation. I should know better by now. although it's always fun to bring it back up a few months later when they gets screwed over and are loosing there cars, houses etc
you prabably should there are endless amounts of threads on this subject but if everybody listen to every little thing there wouldnt be any drivers now would there. for every bad comment that is made on here about these companys i can find a good one to take its place so see you are not the only one on this computer that thinks that way. for all the bad in this world there is good you have to be willing to find it. i just wish we could find a better way to help people than just to discourage them. ps have you ever worked for swift
and if there were less drivers this whole industry would be in a much better place right now. driver shortage my ###. it's a joke now like it was 5 years ago. The only shortage we have is of companies who take care of there people.
you are right if we had less drivers that have have bad attitudes then it would be a be a better industry,i noticed you did not answer the question HAVE YOU EVER WORKED FOR SWIFT i will take that as a no and thats what i am talking about all these negative comments from people that never even worked at at thse companys. its all through the grapevine and that dont mean #### to me
Sorry you missed the point. If a company is moving it's own product then it doesn't need to depend on another company to move it. Alot of common sense comes into play here. You can give all the excuses you want about drivers or a certain company but that fact is if the company is good to work for then drivers tend to stay there. I got paid top dollar even if I sat in the truck for 10 hours so you really don't know the whole industry and it wasn't a union job. Hell after 20 some years I don't know the whole industry and I don't think anyone would. But just ask yourself how many drivers do you know that have retired from Swift? I can tell you the number of drivers that quit my work but I'd never be able to tell you how many have retired. This board is good for starting your search for information on driving a truck. If you stop here then you've only got yourself to blame because there's alot more you need to know. However, what you've told us so far makes me wonder if you just took their schooling and promise to work steady. Let us know in a year if you're still driving then we'll congratulate you and welcome you as a minority. I do wish you luck.
how many companys move there own frieght not many move there own frieght thats why there is more of these companys like swift to do the movin for them. ive seen more of these other companys at these docks than the companys own trucks. you are right i dont know all of this industry and i prabably never will we are constintly learning. as far as top dollar you are prabably a good driver but for a student that will never happen. i dont think a company will pay a student those kind of wages,so when you say theres a better company out there you are right but i am looking at this from a newbie point of view. i am a licensed electrician and i to have made goood money hell on a union job 32.50 to be exact but i did not get there over night like you i had to earn my place it took 15 years. nobody starts at the top and for a student its even worse. so when you tell these poor students that these companys are all bad where do they go to get there start. please tell me so i can go. as far as excuses go i dont need to give,if these companys where that bad they would be out of bus. i have talked to hundreds of drivers from swift and other companys and the majority are happy, like i said its all about your attitude and how much #### you are going to take.
