You could not have picked a worse time to have a "middle age" crisis. This industry is on the verge of a complete meltdown.
However, if you're looking for a J.O.B. You've come to the right place. Companies are downsizing, and cutting back payrolls to the point of 1990 wages.
Long time drivers who struggled for years getting pay to a half way acceptable level. Are being forced out of their jobs by companies cutting pay by as much as 40%.
I stated in another thread, we could expect wages to be as much as 50% lower by years end. Hell, I don't even think we're going to make it till mid summer, before that happens.
I'm talking with experienced drivers now, who are being offered .25 a mile....as top pay.
But come on in..... the water's fine. -
I started with Swift. It barely payed the bills! But its a start! They are the most un organized company I have ever worked for. They have too many drivers and the DM dont care! I moved on. If you go there you will struggle. expecially if your a rookie cuz my first year and a Half of Driving CMV was the craziest time I have ever had. LOOK AT OTHER CHOICES DONT SIGN THE CONTRACT!! If I could do it over again id go to my local union or unemployment office and they will train you for free/No contract!
