Yeah FFE was who I was originally going to go with but they have so many bad reviews about there OTR Trainers. I have done and still do a lot of research on these companies and Stevens has the least amount of bad reviews. I just don't want that 3 year debt with them. But I am going to question the whole working for a year with them but have a 3 year debt. Also the recruiter says once solo I will be OTR 3-4 weeks at a time but drivers that post in other sections about Stevens say its more like 6 weeks at a time. Plus something else that doesn't add up is from the sounds of it 90% of the people that go through Stevens training leave within 6 months after being solo because of only making .28 a mile in 6 months and average of 4-5 days home in 1 1/2 to 2 months OTR.

Talk to Con-Way Truckload. If they accept you, they pay off most of your student debt after you have delivered your first load. I think my out of pocket was about $1500 for room and board at a 5 week school. Got the CDL, hired on, went out with a trainer, got my own truck, and when I delivered the 1st load, the balance of debt to the school was paid.

Training (10,000 miles with a trainer) pay was .26 per mile. Then .30 when I got my own truck, by the end of the 1st year I was at .38 including safety bonus. I believe everything has gone up a penny since then but verify with a recruiter. No long term commitments, no fleece (uh I mean lease) plans, just straight forward.

    Good luck

Ok I will look into that. I am as broke as they come, recently laid off and unemployment don't pay enough to even pay my bills. Lol

I may have to postpone mine till 1/7/13 as well. My main thing with Stevens is its not 1 year paid training debt it's a 3 year debt. Then if you quite I'm sure there will be more interest added on.

I have looked at them reviews before along with several others. Stevens does seem to be the best training out there that everyone likes. Except for the one that dont have common sense or quarto nation to shift lol. But I will be talking to Katrina today. Ill post what info I got.

Pay more than the minimum, and you will have it paid off much quicker.

Im due to get on "The Gound" in two hours to head to Dallas Tx... I was recently hired on to Star Transport... Worse decision ever!! I was out with a trainer for 6-7weeks and was told I gotta wait for someone to quit to get my on truck smh.. So I came home and now going to stevens. Hope I have a better experience than Star.

Oh I know. But with the bills I have to pay on right now no way I can pay Stevens extra. After child support, taxes and health benefits.

I see you're from TX...There's a form to file to get your child support adjusted. You're still responsible for the current amount till adjusted, but from what I understand, it is retroactive from the date you filed. I start training in Houston on 01/07. Maybe see you in the yard 3 weeks after.
