I already got my cdl I did drive with him for a bit probably why I passed everything on my first try but I still went the school route just to be able to say I went to a certified school when job hunting
That’s what I’ve been hearing and apparently their intermodal drivers are grossing 4-5k a week home daily because of the port over there I wanted to get some experience for a year then lucky he’s going to hand me down his truck and upgrade to an automatic because of knee problems so I might look into intermodal with a carrier
My school was so corrupt they didn’t drug test at all because they ran some government funded program where they took in no income/people recently released from jail I paid $2800 after a little negotiation but they charge those people $5,000 so they make sure they get that money even if it means not drug testing, good ol’ Chicago
Houston has gigantic pipe yards, major port near the ocean, and oil refineries all around. Thousands upon thousands of the smaller carriers. They don’t do the mega carrier circus. All they want to know is if you can drive. Now, your age might bar you from some of the refinery jobs, but if you can drive and have a clean record, you will find work.
Glad to hear that I have two friends that moved out there about 2 years ago and are making a killing as real estate agents they claim there’s a lot more opportunity in Houston happy to hear it’s in most fields I turn 23 in September so that’ll help a bit and my record was expunged almost a year ago (minor fighting charges) as well as having a clean driving record

Since you eventually want to be an owner op, get your business frame of mind 24-7. No more fights. No drugs. No heavy drinking. No friends that do drugs or booze up. Right now I’m just looking for anything that will train me for a bit I can worry about the tanker stuff in the future I’m going to pay for a hair test also to make sure I’m 100% in the clear in the future
