I agree. Too much info can be twisted around in court with today's get rich from the driver from lawyers and such. It has become a bank roll for many people now. Lawyers will word it where you can't answer correctly. They will set a snare to trip you up so they can prove you have falsified something.

Everybody seems to be ignoring your question on this part. You have 70 hours available in 8 days. If you drive 8.5 or 8.75, you will never run out of hours, this includes the 15 min PTI and flagging the post (also remember, when putting on fuel that is 15 min line 4 on duty not driving), some do the PTI at the same time as fueling, this can be twisted in court, since you are supposed to be monitoring the flowing fuel, can't monitor the flow when you are at the back of the rig checking your lights.

    Good luck out there.

I only flag pre / post trips. But I also include a VI at time of fueling which shows a 15 minute on duty deduction.

Sounds like a problem to me:

    Pre-trip =

    Post-trip =

Many drivers check the "No Defects Found" box or write it in every day. That's okay except for days a driver had a roadisde inspection and had violations reported to them:

Once the defect is reported the driver must transcribe the info into the DVIR.

    Be safe.

You know loose leaf log books are fine, but they cannot hide the truth when some one really wants to know what happened. Too many drivers have lost their freedom, their job, or money for falsifying their logs. Drivers will eventually loose the ability to use paper logs and be forced to use electronic logs.

    Be safe.

More than the drivers will be affected by the use of electronic logs.

Companies will no longer be able to push drivers under the table with threats or urging them to break the rules.

It will have an effect on the prices paid when the freight will be shipped on different schedules.

    rex Thanks this.

It will also add to the amount of trucks on the road which will lead to even more regulations etc..... one big circle effect

EOBR's will also make the parking problem a lot worse . More drivers will be ticketed and trucks towed .

Mike, You can't imagine how many times I've stated the same thing in different posts in here. But it still comes back to the same thing. It's either "I don't do a post-trip" or I just flag the post-trip". All too many drivers fail to understand 396.11, or the fact that if they went through a driver/vehicle inspection today that driver is required to show the defects on the DVIR at the end of the day. I'll bet that I've posted and explained 396.11 at least a dozen times in here. They even have a piece of paper from the state officer stating there is a defect, and that/those defect(s) must be repaired before using the vehicle again under 396.11(c), yet all to many drivers fail to understand this rule, let alone comply with this rule.
