My last A1C was ran about a week before all this is was 10. She found sugar in my Pee from the Strip she put in it and then Finger Poked me and so on. Sugar was a little High EVEN For ME! I told her I have not ate or taken any Insulin today so that is why my Sugar was high I didn't eat about 10 HRS before it. My Sugar is very well controlled. I tend to run Higher which my Sugar Doctor said thats fine right now!

Not sure but you may of passed if it had been normal for you that doctor may of also frowned on you not eating that day.... I don't know much about diabetes and if it's a difference between type 1 and 2 but isn't it possible for someone with diabetes to not eat and have there sugar plummet and cause them to pass out... Maybe the doctor just put it all together and did not want to sign there name to the card seeing as they could be responsible if something happened or could they? Not sure

Your 1 diabetics AR ones who don't create insulin or create very little. Insulin is needed to help your body break down sugars and use it for energy. Those people are able to go into a sugar low very easily and can die very easily.
Type 2 diabetics like myself and most of those who are diabetics either have an insulin sensitivity where it body creates but doesn't utilise it correctly, or they create to much over time and eventually they stop creating so much. Metformin helps with the body's resistance to using insulin. The other drug like I'm on called invokana causes sugar to not be absorbed into my blood through my liver and expels it out via my urine. This causes increased urination, extreme thirst, it is harder on your kidneys. There's several other issues but those issues usually come up with women.

In all seriousness though, there is a lot of wrong information with diabetes, hell I've probably said something that was wrong here. The diabetes research is changing almost daily. Few years back they said they were able to isolate a specific gene that is linked to diabetes dispositions, that treating that specific gene they think will yield better results for us. But it takes so long for the FDA to approve drugs that when the good ones finally come out they are extremely expensive. The invokana drug I'm on cost almost $1400 for a 6 month supply

Anything over a 9.8 is an automatic disqualification. It's not even up to the doc.

Usually it's a test for sugar in the urine. If they find free sugar in the urine it's normally a finger prick. If that shows a high level then here comes the blood a1c test.

The trick is to make sure there is no sugar in your urine before you go. For me it's lean meat, no sugar or carbs and working out everyday 3 days before the physical. Fasting the morning of the physical. Followed by Wendy's after I have a new med card.
