It's relevant to this discussion because it's totally fine to go straight from driving to your other gig.

But he didn't mention logging his "other gig" as on duty time, which is important.

So would a gambler have to log on-duty at the casino?

Not if he’s losing. Once he wins, he’s being compensated for his time. Lol!!!

Not what the law says. A driver can "work" 24 hours a day, they can be "on duty" 24 hours a day. There is no restriction on that. They just cant drive a CMV in violation of the HOS rules. Nothing says you cant work the dock or anything else the company wants you to do. And even at that, there is no restriction on driving either, as long as you never leave the yard. You can drive a spotter 24 hours a day also (for example), as long as you never touch the street.

Also, there are exceptions for oil rigs and farmers. And Alaska has their own HOS rules that do not follow the FMCSA for the rest of us in the lower 48.

If you are on duty more than 14 hours in a day, you will be in violation if you attempt to move your truck. That would be why I specified "as a truck driver." Not as a dock worker, or anything else.

    I am right.

    Thank you.

But you are wrong, by YOUR defination. There is no restriction on moving a truck around the yard >14 hours. There is no restriction on moving your truck on PC >14 hours.... If you want to be nit picky, you are STILL wrong ;)
