So sounds like the shippers or lift drivers at these beer shippers just dont care at times. I thought you could get away with 45,000 tops on total trailer load weight. Im aware of the axles and steers weight. Usually when you get the paperwork at the office and look at total weight, you already know without even having to leave to scale first.

Depending on truck and trailer you can go more than 45k, if loaded perfectly i can scale out 46.5-47k of beer on the newer trailers. Its not so much the lift drivers, the brewery wants the as much beer as possible on there, they have min. amounts that you have to be able to scale out or they add weight also.

What do you mean by min amounts? I have seen some shippers try to sneak on extra weight thinking the driver won't catch it. Example: I picked up a load of dog food once, read the bill and knew by the total it was over weight. Commented about it and was told to go scale it at truck stop and if so they would fix it. Came back and told them I could have saved that little trip.

My point is some try to get by with it to fill an order quicker or easier and for costs. Your right about the weight differences in equipment too

Bud has axle scales and show you the weight, Miller just has a platform and won't tell you your weight, but if you are under a certain gross weight they make you go back for more beer. Bud is anywhere between 75k-79k depending on time of year and which brewery it is, and what product it is you are hauling. The paper plants you learn quickly with rolls, when the roll weighs 9k you know if there are more than 5 on there you have a problem.

Now do these companies have to have a certain weight on the trailer or is it just miller?

every brewery and liquor warehouse I have picked up at has a Min. weight you have to be able to haul. They are the only ones I know of that do this for the customers we have, outside of a weird broker load here and there.

This is for the regional drivers. How long were you with millis as otr before deciding you were confident in your own abilities to switch to regional?
