Need to relocate to Texas

Heard the same thing about San Antonio in the mid 80's & 90's . it's still going strong.

I don't blame anybody for trying to better themselves. Talking them down does no good either because you don't know their situation.

 

Demand a route going north and back or night driving only. Otherwise, it will be like driving through one huge city. L.A. ain't got #### on greater Dallas

It happened big time in TEXAS too back in the 80,s when the price of oil went to nothing. At that time Harris county through the late 70's had people moving in to the tune of 6,000 a month average, then over night everything went to hell. I knew people that bought fairly new houses and paid for them at auctions with a 5,000 dollar credit card. At that time at least one state (Ohio) iirc was giving folks gas money to move to tx and continued to past the point to where they could not buy a job once they got there.

At that time 90 % of the TX economy was based on oil, since that time they have diversified big time, so that is not as likely to happen as bad again , the mayor of San Antonio was pretty big in leading the diversity deal.

 

Used to have a helpful Court Clerk in Midland Texas - Odessa area, when we had probate to to take care of. Her pa had a interest in three wells for oil. All three salted over and were capped about 1988. We still keep a eye on them now and then should someone try to redrill them or get to them indirectly.

We were facing a form of ruin in the early 90's until someone drilled what turned out to be about a thousand plus gas wells. (Among other things...) Its part of the Fayetteville Shale Play with it's own Pipe line so that when Madrid breaks we will still keep most of the east coast in cooking and heating gas among other things.
